Dive into the Harry Potter universe once more! Welcome to Pottermore, world for those fans who just can’t get enough of Harry Potter. Pottermore is a website created by J.K. Rowling that gives fans exclusive new writings about different people, things, or events from the 7-book series. It also lets fans learn to cast a spell and brew a potion. Pottermore account-holders are also sorted into a Hogwarts House, and each possess a pet and their own special wand.

As soon as they sign up to Pottermore, participants are directed to Diagon Alley, where they visit their Gringotts account. Each person starts with 500 galleons. Players then proceed to Eeylops’ Owl Emporium and Magical Menagerie where they purchase an owl or other kind of pet. Their pet becomes their profile picture. Afterwards, players go to Ollivander’s to buy a wand. Players answer a simple 7-question test that determines their wand. All wands have either a phoenix tail feather, unicorn hair, or dragon heartstring as a core. Armed with their wand, players now have a choice to go buy all their school supplies or proceed to the Great Hall at Hogwarts to be sorted into their House.

The Sorting is another test. 7 questions are randomly picked out of 200 questions that form the Sorting test. The test places a player in one of the four legendary Hogwarts Houses; Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin. Once a player is in a House, he or she can lose or win points for their house by dueling, brewing potions, or exploring Moments.

Moments are little scenes from each of the books, depicting an important event. Some Moments currently on Pottermore are “The Journey to Hogwarts”, from The Philosopher’s Stone, “Follow the Spiders” from The Chamber of Secrets, and “Harry’s Birthday”, from The Prisoner of Azkaban. Each Moment might include special writing by J.K. Rowling, like about some of the characters like Professor Minerva McGonagall or Petunia and Vernon Dursley, or about objects, such as Wand Woods. Moments might also include different objects, such as books, scrolls, Chocolate Frog Cards, and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans. Moments also have Galleons, potion ingredients, and sometimes interactive games.

Once a player has a wand, they can proceed to the Dueling Club and duel a member or another House. A player can also brew potions, like the Draught of Living Death, or a cure to boils. Brewing a successful potion, or winning a duel win win the player’s House points. Failing or losing will lose House points. Collecting objects in Moments will also win a player House points.

Pottermore is a really fun and interesting website. Many Harry Potter fans will delight in J.K. Rowling’s special writings on different things in the 7 books. Harry Potter fans can dive into the world of Harry Potter once more even if there will not a be an eighth book.
